Rollin' On 04:10
There’s a time when you’ll find What you love it what you need
When the grime makes it tough Makes it harder, keep the heid And just keep rollin’ on Keep on singing your song And if any of the many Or the few can not succumb I can feel it all around me Inside my bones there’s more to come So just keep rollin’ on Keep on singing your song Now the clouds have made a cover over me I will let you in And when summer sings it’s heart for you and me That’s when life begins If it’s over when we’re sober We’ll be full of times gone by And we’re older love I know That we can laugh and sing and cry So Just keep rollin’ on Keep on singing your song Keep on rollin’ on Keep on singing your song Give me some time, I’ll be along We’ll all keep rollin’ on

Summer and the weather is fine Summer and the weather is fine Any way the wind blows, that’s the way the river flows Summer and the weather is fine Problems of a worried man Problems of a worried man Resting on your shoulder, leave it till you’re older Problems of a worried man Summer and the weather is fine Summer and the weather is fine Any way the wind blows, that’s the way the river flows Summer and the weather is fine Wait until the sky turns blue Wait until the sky turns blue Sunrise it will cover you, sisters and your brothers too Wait until the sky turns blue Summer and the weather is fine Summer and the weather is fine Any way the wind blows, that’s the way the river flows Summer and the weather is fine Worries will all fade away Worries will all fade away If you find a lover, take her under cover Worries will all fade away … All I’m waiting for is you All I’m waiting for is you Tell all of your friends to, wait until the sky’s blue All I’m waiting for is you Summer and the weather is fine Summer and the weather is fine Any way the wind blows, that’s the way the river flows Summer and the weather is fine … Summer and the weather is fine Summer and the weather is fine Any way the wind blows, that’s the way the river flows Summer and the weather is fine Summer and the weather is fine Summer and the weather is fine Any way the wind blows, that’s the way the river flows Summer and the weather is fine Summer and the weather is fine Summer and the weather is fine Any way the wind blows, that’s the way the river flows Summer and the weather is fine Summer and the weather is fine Summer and the weather is fine Any way the wind blows, that’s the way the river flows Summer and the weather is fine

Do you remember? When we sang together? I was a boat, I was lost in your sea We would go walking Could feel the boat docking But my only care was for you loving me Loving me, you loving me My only care was for you loving me Never quite settled The keys to the metal Matter of fact we were barely home He smokes what you give him Hopes he’s forgiven You’ll let him off ‘cause you love him so Love him so, oh love him so You’ll let him off ‘cause you love him so You tell me what you want… I hear you crying Crying for someone That doesn’t mean anything to me A beauty in sadness You’re not so bad, miss Clear your mind, it’ll set you free Set you free, oh set you free Clear your mind, my love, it’ll set you free Clear your mind, my love, it’ll set you free

about

Rollin’ On comes quickly after winning the Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition and follows a packed summer of festival performances across the UK. Since his spectacular debut, Feel The Ground You Walk Upon, Lewis McLaughlin has been a busy 21 year old. Monohands Records present this raw dynamic EP, widening the landscape of McLaughlin's cinematic approach to songwriting.

The new track, Rollin’ On is a reminder to us all to feel the path we’re on and acknowledge the difficulty along it, all the while singing (and whistling) when you can. For the recording he enlisted his brother Euan and school friend Steven Stark to create the off the cuff raw and dynamic version captured at 312, Andy Monaghan’s (Frightened Rabbit/Monohands) Glasgow studio. Equal parts Tom Petty, Foxwarren and Paolo Nutini the blend showcases his ability to create with a more minimal palette than is present on his debut album.

“You Tell Me” (Alternative Version) is a fresh take on the track, as direct as the version on the album, yet shining a light on another colour of the narrative. The Jupiter 4, modulated fenders and tr8 bring a contemporary flourish, setting the scene in a world of hot concrete rather than the rural quaint version from his debut record.

Summer (Acoustic) is a fabulous stripped back campfire-esque version, it feels like it’s been in our blood for generations. A vocal and acoustic accompanied by fiddle player Chloë Bryce along with Finlay Johnston on harmonies. The original version of Summer was described as “the anthem we’ve been waiting for” by BBC Scotland’s Roddy Hart. The track brought out the sun and smiles during Glastonbury performances with sing-a-longs in full swing. It highlights McLaughlin’s desire for connection and community spirit.
